It Takes a Village (ITAV) was founded in 2023 by Marie Gondlach, Sara Taylor & Sarah Fry (adopters who were keen to see more peer-led support for adoptive families).
ITAV is an organisation run by adopters for adopters offering support and connections for adoptive families and prospective adopters who have been approved by panel (Stage 2 adopters). Its purpose is to nurture peer-led communities that grow local adoption networks, enabling families to support each other.
Our aim is to support and empower adopters to establish local groups that meet the needs of adoptive families in their area. We are focussed on making strong connections to reduce isolation and improve mental well-being.
Membership is free and once your adopter status has been confirmed you will have access to all events and activities that we offer. If you are interested, please Join ITAV. Or if you have any questions Contact us.
ITAV is member driven - activities and events are led by adopters. If you would like to get involved in extending our delivery in your local area, please Contact us.

Our vision
Created and run by adoptive parents, ITAV offers adoptive families opportunities to connect, form relationships, positive ways to share information, practical advice from lived-experience and empathetic support.
